The best care the elderly can receive includes hygienic linen, fresh tablecloths, and well looked-after clothes. Keeping high standards in the laundry room enables care homes to ensure a safe environment across premises, reducing the risk of infection transmission, and a caring atmosphere, ensuring patients’ well-being. Thanks to a tailored laundry solution, Miele Professional enabled Beechcroft House to deliver a supreme care experience to its residents.

Westminster City council and Durkan Housing developed Beechcroft House, a London-based care home with 84 bedrooms offering affordable housing to the elderly. Since inception, the developers envisioned Beechcroft House would be as a busy establishment processing hundreds of items in the laundry each day. This is why they decided to team up with Miele Professional’s partner First Choice Marshalls, who provided consultations on the best laundry solutions to realise the project.

As all exciting projects, Beechcroft House provided the team with a challenge: soon after the project kicked off, it became apparent that the ventilation of the room would require switching from vented tumble dryers to heat pump ones. As well as being technically suited for the environment where they would operate, heat pump dryers would also be a long-term investment in that they would reduce energy usage for drying cycles.

Since machine installation took place before the building was completed, the team worked out a system involving ramping, planking, and floor protection to ensure that the machines were transported and installed in full safety and without any aesthetical damage.

Fully equipped with Miele Professional machines, Beechcroft House had all it takes to deliver supreme care to elderly residents.

Through careful needs analysis, First Choice Marshalls recommended the installation of three Miele Professional PW 413 Benchmark washers, three PT 8337wp Benchmark dryers, and a PH 1217 rotary ironer. First Choice Marshalls’ Technical Director worked closely with architects advising on the size of the room that the care home would require for these machines, providing CAD drawings and technical specifications.
