Vacuum cleaner switches itself off/“!” symbol lights up

The vacuum cleaner switches itself off automatically. The “!” symbol lights up on the vacuum cleaner. A temperature limiter switches the vacuum cleaner off if it gets too hot. The “!” symbol lights up on some models.

Suction tube blocked.

Something bulky has been vacuumed up (e.g. large leaves from house plants) and is blocking the suction tube. The casing gets very hot as air is unable to escape as required.

Switch the vacuum cleaner off using the On/Off foot switch.

Remove the plug from the socket.

Disassemble the floorhead, hose, handle and telescopic tube.

You can carefully push large items which are jammed in the hose or in the telescopic tube towards the floorhead using a long object (e.g. a broom handle).

Items causing a blockage are usually easy to shake out of the handle.

After removing the cause of the fault, wait for 30 minutes to allow the vacuum cleaner to cool down. It can then be switched on again.

Vacuum cleaner bag full and/or filters dirty.

A full vacuum cleaner bag or a dirty motor protection filter or exhaust filter can impede optimum discharge of air from the vacuum cleaner. This causes the casing to get very hot.

Switch the vacuum cleaner off.

Remove the plug from the socket.

Replace the vacuum cleaner bag, the exhaust filter or the motor protection filter, if necessary, or empty the dust container.

After removing the cause, wait for approximately 30 minutes to allow the appliance to cool down. It can then be switched on again.
