Fault F73 or FAULT – 73 (countertop appliance)

Fault F73 or FAULT – 73 appears on the coffee machine display (countertop appliance).

The brew unit is unable to move into its start position.

CM 53xx/54xx/55xx/6xxx/7xxx:F73

To move the brew unit back into its start position, proceed as follows:

  • Confirm the fault message with OK.

  • Switch the coffee machine off with the On/Off  control or .

  • Switch off at the wall socket and unplug the coffee machine. Plug it back in after 2 minutes.

  • Remove the brew unit and rinse under running water.

  • Pushing into start position | Coffee ejector | Countertop coffee machine
  • Push the coffee ejector of the brew unit into the start position.

  • Do not insert the brew unit into the coffee machine.

  • Close the appliance door.

  • Switch the coffee machine on with the On/Off  control or .

This will initialise the brew unit drive and put it back into the start position.

The message Insert brew unit is displayed.

  • Open the appliance door.

  • Now reinsert the brew unit into the coffee machine.

  • Close the appliance door.

If the message appears again, reduce the quantity of coffee and/or select a finer degree of grinding. Some types of coffee have a much higher grinding volume.

CM 5000/5100/5200:FAULT – 73
The drip tray was removed while the brew unit was still moving into the start position.

To move the brew unit back into its start position, proceed as follows:

  • Empty the drip tray and reinsert it.

  • Switch the coffee machine off with the On/Off  control.

  • Pressing Coffee and Espresso | Control panel | Countertop coffee machine
  • Press the buttons for Espresso  and Coffee  at the same time. Release the buttons again.

  • Pressing OK twice | Control panel | Countertop coffee machine
  • Press the OK button twice.

This will initialise the brew unit drive and put it back into the start position.
